我国封建时代的教育管理机关和最高学府。 隋 、 唐 、 宋 、 元 、 明 、 清 ，称国子监。 晋 称国子学， 北齐 称国子寺。 清 末改革学制，自 光绪 三十二年起设学部，国子监并入学部。参见“ 国学 ”、“ 太学 ”、“ 国子学 ”。
